flowers, lemon drops, sunshine, and everything nice

The weather has been ridiculously pretty lately in NYC. So Britney and I (read her blog here) decided to go to the seaport and enjoy the nice sunshine while munching on red velvet cake from Junior's.
wearing a floral romper from a store in Soho, random gold chain and earrings, my trusty gold Seiko watch, a floral ring from SoGood boutique in Boston, clutch from h&m, and sunglasses bought from the street in midtown

Along the way we bumped into Zoey!!!

It got chillier so I put on my tan blazer from a store called De Janiero.

Sandals from J. Aldridge for Urban Outfitters. You may recognize her name from her popular blog, Sea of Shoes.
Britney is wearing a wet seal dress with cowboy boots and kickass shades.

Covet......

Preen Line Fountain Cotton- Jersey Dress
This cotton jersey looks comfy enough to run errands in with flats yet pretty enough to strap on a pair of heels and statement jewelery to go out in.

Mark Fast Knit Dress with Leather Detail
There is something strangely romantic yet still urban about this combination of ruffles, leather, and crochet.

Studded Court by Louise Goldin
The spikes and the perfectly proportioned point counterbalances the girly baby pink and rhinestones.
Erickson Beamon for Alice + Olivia Leather Rose Chain Necklace
The black roses could be poetically cliche but the asymmetry keeps it interesting.

Fannie Schiavoni Gunmetal Chainmail Shoulder Piece
The bold yet delicate thin gaged wire-work on this shoulder piece keeps it from veering into dominatrix territory and more into a modern Joan of Arc feel.

Yesterday I went with some friends to grab some dinner. It was a good time until a drunk delusional homeless man wandered into the restaurant and sat down next to me. He had to forcibly removed by cops...... oh i do love NYC.

wearing: Arden B. black and white wrap sweater, hue tights, topshop bangles, borrowed teal leather gloves (thanks emma!), old navy gold thread scarf, bag from street vendor, h&m black top and skirt (underneath), and random gathered leather booties from an NYC boutique

my vagina is feeling retro.

Today I went to my school's production of The Vagina Monologues and it was absolutely fantastic in an empowering "I am woman, hear me roar, stomp my stilettos, and indulge in my prowess" type of way. Besides going to the show, I have sadly decided to stay cooped inside my room all weekend to work on the two papers and midterm coming up next week. But I managed to find time to have a fun little photo-shoot with the outfit I wore to the show.

Wearing: thrifted pinstriped blouse, h&m bandage skirt, hue black tights, payless red pumps

jewelery: bangles from topshop and forever 21; rings from forever 21, aldo and various street vendors; croc leather women's watch from Bulova;
hair fascinator from h&m

catching up.

Greetings everyone!
As second semester is underway, I've been trying desperately to keep in touch with old and new friends alike as well as keep up with my school work. For the new year, there have been some personal promises that I have kept and few that I have failed miserably at achieving. One of the few promises that I have not been adhering to was the goal to keep up with my blog and not be one of those mysterious one post wonders that disappear into the abyss of lack of inspiration and motivation; So now I am updating my blog again, two months short of a year after my first blog post.
Since blogspot has last heard of me, I've gone though many changes, the most important of which has been my move to another city. I've been living in NYC for 6 months now (has it really been so long???) and sometimes I can't help but feel a bit of wonder as I observe all of the diversity and culture that this great city has to offer. Since I have been separated from my precious sewing machine for months now (there simply is no room in my scenic but TINY dorm room), I will now devote most of my blogs to just simply different parts of the city or my daily life that I find worth writing about or inspirational; This could range from daily outfits or scenes from the city. As I haven't blogged in months, I might spend the next couple of posts on what I've been up to in the past year with photo accompaniment.

Today's outfit:

betsy johnson lace tights, nine west cuzza booties, random blazer from soho, h&m dress, forever 21 belt

detailed shot: DIY studded Bulova men's leather watch, spiked necklace from Boston boutique, ring from a Soho boutique

Au'revoir (for now but not too long),
